One spouse may be much more interested in the venture than the other. For example, you may be determined to make the business a success. But you may find that your spouse prioritizes the family over work. Is this a bad thing? No, unless you are business partners. If you are not business partners, the spouses can help keep each other balanced. However if you are business partners, the family-focused spouse may begin to criticize the business-focused spouse while the business-focused spouse may begin to resent the lack of perceived support for the venture. This stress, resentment, and lack of common focus now invades both the work and home setting. Worse yet, there is no one to turn to for emotional support.
